AFC WAVERTON 2ND VICTORY OF THE SEASONa very hard fought victory made harder than necessary by a difficult pitch and the ball getting stuck in the grass. AFC were clearly the better footballing side but made things hard on themselves by conceding a sloppy first minute goal. They did however well to come back and controlled the rest of the first half equalising through a very well taken left volley by Elliot.
The second half saw more sustained pressure by Waverton without any rewards until the opposition unfortunately put the ball in their own net from Mike Buckley's accurate corner. The team made the job even harder through lack of discipline and from not being able to convert another goal until the last minute when Motty, who never gave up all game and adapted very well to his new forward position, brushed off several challenges to slot the ball into the net.
An excellent hard fought but well deserved victory.
